A profile of composer/musician Mike Tusay

New Jersey rocker Mike Tusay has written and recorded a Poe-inspited album titled The Raven and Other Songs.

The Raven and Other Songs was recorded by Michael Tusay with the help of Keith Greener at Greener Studios in Pennington, New Jersey. The purpose of the project is to illuminate Edgar Allan Poe's poetry through music.

Though Poe is mainly known for his dark and haunting literature, in “The Raven and Other Songs” the songs have been chosen from Poe's extensive poems and composed in a manner to reflect the broad variety in which Poe captures and illustrates the entire human experience.

From haunting organ sounds and screeching guitar on songs such as The Raven and The Conqueror Worm to Melancholy guitar on A Dream within a Dream and Alone each song was composed with the utmost care to truly capture the essence of what Poe was trying to express and the imagery he was trying to unveil in his poems.

"Alan Parsons in his work Tales of Mystery and Imagination was truly a work of brilliance. I must
say it was a huge influence for me as I composed the songs around Poe's timeless classics of poetry."
